uhhhh where did the week go?
It’s only been one week and this semester is certainly keeping me on my toes. I feel like I am already in the thick of it, without much breathing room. This is alright though, I thrive on having a schedule that forces me to really regiment my schedule. It’s also kind of nice in a way to just be thrown into the craziness.
So along with juggling classes, work, thesis, scenic directing Urinetown, and STAND this semester, I also decided to take on an internship at the Massachusetts State House this spring. I just started there last week in the Boards and Commissions office and so far it has been awesome. My fellow interns and officemates have been so friendly and welcoming. The State House seems to be a really upbeat and fast paced place to work. There are so many incredible projects going on throughout the Commonwealth right now and I am happy to be right in the middle of it all. I love being surrounded by so many impassioned people. I’m really looking forward to being in Boston two days a week this semester, it’s a nice change of pace from my typical semester at Clark.
I feel so lucky that I was able to get this internship this semester but what I am most thankful for is the fact that I can afford my weekly commute there. Like Rian, I also received a Harrington Fellowship from the Political Science Department, which completely covers the cost of my transportation to and from my internship and meals for the whole semester. I am also getting credit at Clark for this internship. Really how easily the internship and fellowship came together was kind of incredible. I receieved an email from career services and the Political science department about the Governor’s internship program one day and the next day got an email about the Harrington fellowship for public affairs projects and internships. It was kind of a no brainer to just apply for both and hope it all worked out. It did, and I am so happy about it.
