It’s A Little Early for Christmas

It’s not Christmas. But it sure is beginning to feel like it. Today I went Christmas shopping with my sister while carols wafted through the air, and my family is planning our annual post-Christmas expedition to our farm in Wisconsin.

The farm last year around this time.

For now though, it’s Thanksgiving, and I’m back in Wilmette for the first time since I left at the end of August. Not much has changed here – we got a free dartboard – and it has been simply lovely to cook, eat, and just hang out with my family for the first time in months. My friends are also all home for Thanksgiving and it’s been great to see them again – everyone is having different sorts of college experiences, all great in their own way.

Me preparing the Thanksgiving dessert – pumpkin cheesecake, it was delicious!

My mom’s cousin and her family came over for Thanksgiving – wonderful to have them here!

So it’s been a good break – full of food and pool tournaments and darts and The Pancake House and watching West Wing and generally doing everything that I haven’t done since I left for college – being at home. My life is at Clark now (and I love it), but my home is still in Wilmette.
